Introduction

From the very beginning, we set out to prioritize replayability over crafting a long, linear adventure. This focus guided us toward the RogueLite genre, offering players meaningful challenges and clear objectives that encourage engagement. Drawing inspiration from games like Cult of the Lamb, Risk of Rain 2, and The Binding of Isaac, we aim to combine progression, variety, and creativity in every run.

Our goal is to deliver an experience where each playthrough feels fresh, fun, and rewarding, ensuring players are eager to return for more.

Core Gameplay

Central to our game is a dynamic loot system inspired by Muck and Risk of Rain 2, enabling players to evolve their characters and create powerful builds. Progressing through challenging floors filled with enemies, players can earn valuable upgrades or risk skipping encounters for faster progression. However, skipping obstacles may leave them underprepared for mandatory boss fights, which test their skill and strategic planning.

These boss battles serve as major milestones, designed to push players to master the game’s mechanics and creatively use their chosen upgrades. The combination of procedural challenges, loot-driven progression, and engaging combat mechanics ensures an exciting and unpredictable journey with every run.

Design

Our project draws from a rich pool of inspirations, blending pixel art with engaging mechanics to create a visually distinct and accessible game. Pixel art aligns perfectly with our team’s resources and creative goals, offering a timeless aesthetic that players love.

With End the Bully, we’re creating a game that strikes the perfect balance between difficulty and rewarding progression, encouraging players to experiment with different builds and strategies.
